If you are a responsible, caring, young person; we need your help with the little kids on the playground.
To be a Playground Helper, you need the following skills....
1) Eye contact (be looking at the speaker)
2) Proper Body Language (no crossed arms, no wagging fingers)
3) Positive and encouraging Tone of Voice
4) Active listening (you need to be repeating the important parts of the problem)
When a child comes up to you with a problem...remember the procedure! You ask them:
Is there a problem? Do you want our help?
There are 3 agreements: No interrupting-No name calling-Talk only to me
What is the problem?
What can you do to solve the problem?
Is it over? If yes...shake hands If no....get a teacher
Always use politeness and respect when dealing with a conflict.
And remember, if you don't think you can handle it...go and get a teacher!
